Our Lady of Fuensanta is the patron saint of Huelma (Jaén). A beautiful legend, recorded in a document from 1761, tells that in Moorish times a daughter of the king of Cambil converted to Christianity; her father, enraged, ordered her eyes to be gouged out and her hands to be cut off. In that place, the Virgin appeared to her and asked her to place her arms in the earth: a spring gushed forth there, and the young woman regained her hands and her sight.
