Virgin of the Fuensana
"La Aparecida" · Sanctuary of Villel (Teruel)
In a mountain area near Villel, the Fuensanta shrine keeps "La Aparecida," a highly estimated image linked to a fountain and a prodigious finding.
Origin and history
The present shrine of the Virgin of Fuensanta, near Villel, is a 16th century building, dated 1561, built on an earlier 13th century building, in a mountainous area more accessible than that of the original finding. The image today venerated is a dress size from the 18th century, very esteemed, affectionately known as "The Aparecida."
His devotion, linked to the source ("Fuensanta") and to the account of the prodigious finding, is expressed in romanias and parties. The accessible sources do not accurately specify the date of the party or a canonical coronation.
Date of the feast and canonical coronation: they are not safely recorded in the sources.
