Origin and history
The sanctuary of Our Lady of the Grotto, built by the Dominican friars at the end of the 15th century, rises on a cave where, according to tradition, the Virgin appeared to a local hunter. The cave is still a place of prayer today.
Party and devotion
It is one of the oldest Marian devotions in Malta, guarded by the Dominicans for more than five centuries.
