The Virgin of La Mayor is the main patron saint of Sigüenza (Guadalajara), an episcopal city in the Alcarria region. It is a Romanesque image carved from cypress wood, brought to Sigüenza around 1124 by Bishop Bernardo de Agén, conqueror and restorer of the diocese.
