Origin and history
The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Marquesas, in Taiohae (Nuku Hiva), is the seat of the diocese of the Marquesas, of a Catholic majority. Built between 1973 and 1977, it houses a Via Cruces carved in takamaka trunks for ten years by artist Damien Faturau.
