Marian devotion
Origin and history
Our Lady of Sorrows is the patron saint of Masaka Cathedral (Uganda), one of several Marian cathedrals in the country (along with those in Mbarara and Lugazi). Marian devotion is very strong in Uganda, a land of martyrs, and is also linked to the nearby Kibeho pilgrimage.
