Origin and history
On a hill of Paraparaumu is raised a statue of the Virgin of Lourdes of 14 meters, commissioned in 1958 for the centenary of Lourdes, with a crown of light visible by night a kilometers. It is a goal of pilgrimages; there the Rosary prayed the Polish survivors of the Soviet deportations hosted in New Zealand.
