La documented history the sanctuary begins in the 18th century. In 1737 was built in Makkosmária a first chapel in the place of the image venerated in the forest. From 1748 the chapel and the incipient sanctuary were entrusted to the Redeemers of captives, who promoted the worship of the Virgin "Fogolykivaltó Boldogasszony" (Our Lady of the Redemption of Causes). The image and the sanctuary

The advocation is venerated in the Church of grace Makkosmária (pilgrimage church), officially called "Queen of Angels Church" (Church - shrine of the Queen of the Angels), in the border of Budakeszi, Pest County, near Budapest. The temple is located in Makkosi út 163, in a wooded environment that retains the character of a place of prayer in the middle of nature. The present church was raised or rebuilt in 1947, based on the old 18th century chapel. It does not know that the temple has the title of minor basilica nor a national sanctuary; it is a diocesan sanctuary of pilgrimage within the diocese of Székesfehérvár.

The iconography of the advocation is linked to the Prisoner Happiness (Our Lady of the Redemption of Causes). In the pastoral practice of the sanctuary, this dimension has been extended to "captives" of modern addictions and dependencies: drug addicts, alcoholics, slaves of disorderly sexuality, game and other harmful habits, as well as their families and those who work for their release. In this way, the sanctuary exercises a spiritual patronage over those who suffer any form of inner or social captivity.

It is reported that Makkosmaria haya was proclaimed official employer of Budakeszi, Budapest or the Hungarian nation, beyond its importance as a diocesan Marian sanctuary. In the sources consulted no documented canonical coronation is mentioned of the image by pontifical authority or papal delegate; therefore: does not contain a documented canonical coronation.

The devotional calendar of the sanctuary is structured around two large annual pilgrimage parties, in addition to the ordinary Sunday Eucharistic celebration. The official information of the temple indicates that there is mass every Sunday at 11: 30, and midnight mass is held on the night of December 24.

Link to the Rosary

In the sources consulted does not contain a specific or exclusive practice which uniquely links the advocation of Our Lady of Makkosmária to the prayer of Rosary (for example, historical co-fradies of the Rosary of the place, promises linked to this prayer, or apparitions explicitly related to the Rosary). Devotion is particularly focused on the Our Lady's liberating intercession for the captives and slaves of all kinds of ties, in continuity with the charism of the trinitarians and the memory of the prisoners.

However, as in most Marian shrines, the Rosary is part of the usual prayer of the faithful and pilgrimages, being Marian prayer par excellence in the Latin Church. [This wine
