There is no precise chronology of their arrival or of their primitive veneration in verifiable terms in the sources consulted.

According to the traditional account cited for this advocation, the icon would have arrived miraculously for the Svislach River in the year 1500. This should be read as pious legend or devotional memorynot as a historically demonstrated fact. The accessible sources do not contain a critical record of their origin, or sufficient old documentation to enable the initial history of the icon to be safely rebuilt.

The reference sanctuary is its own Catedral del Espíritu Santo of Minsk, the main Orthodox temple of the city and ecclesial headquarters in the Belarusian capital. The sources provided do not identify it as a minor basilica, national sanctuary or diocesan sanctuary in the Catholic sense; therefore, these titles should not be applied here.
