Marian devotion
Our Lady of St. John of the Lakes
One of the "Three Queens of Jalisco"
His sanctuary is the second most visited in Mexico, after Guadalupe. Pattern of travellers and migrants, is invoked with immense gratitude for the favors received.

Origin and history
The image is a small sculpture of corn cane paste, of a missionary style from the 16th century, venerated in the ancient town of San Juan Bautista Mezquittlán. The event that spread devotion was, according to tradition (about 1623), the "miracle of the resurrected girl": a girl from an acrobat show was declared dead and, by placing her in the old image of the Virgin, she regained her life.
The prodigy attracted a multitude of pilgrims and the image became called "La Cihualpilli" ("the Great Lady"). Over the centuries, the shrine, raised to basilica, was built today the second most visited Marian sanctuary in Mexico. The Holy See granted canonical coronation in 1904.
