Main data
Origin and history
According to the tradition in the official Czech tourist presentation, the Gothic image of Our Lady of Svatah Hour would have been carved in pear wood por el arzobispo Arnošt de Pardubice († 1364), an important figure of the 14th century Bohemia Church. This attribution belongs to the realm of devout legend; it is not recorded as historically proven data.
As for the documented history, Svatá Hora is set up as a place of Marian devotion in the framework of late-medieval and modern Bohemia religiosity. The present complex is a great Baroque sanctuary raised on the top of a hill over Příbram, with a history of pilgrimages that is consolidated from the 17th century, when the sanctuary is developed as one of the main Marian destinations of the region. Over time, the whole has expanded with cloisters, chapels and monumental steps, becoming a famous place of pilgrimage in Czech.
The image and the sanctuary
The venerated image is a Gothic size of the Virgin with the Child, known as Nuestra Señora de Svata Hora (Panna María Svatohorská). According to tradition, it is made in pear wood and represents Mary enthroned with the Child Jesus, in the iconographic line of the Gothic Madonna of Central Europe. It is a crowned image and object of deep popular veneration, presented as the spiritual center of the sanctuary.
The sanctuary is officially called Holy Mountain (in Spanish, "Santa Montaña" or "Monte Sagrada"), a large Baroque pilgrimage complex located on the top of a hill that dominates the city of Plumabout 60 km from Prague. The set is made up of a church of pilgrimage y un Monastery, surrounded by enlargements cloisters with chapels that frame the enclosure. The place is described as an "impressive Baroque complex" and a "renowned pilgrimage site." The sources present it as one of the most important Marian centers in the country and mention that it is administered by religious (now, by the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer, redeemers, according to contemporary ecclesial information, although this point is not detailed in the sources cited above).
It is not found in the consulted sources that the church has explicitly received the title of minor basilica nor a formal declaration as National sanctuary; it is described as a "pilgrimage church" and "great monastery-Marian sanctuary."
Sponsorship and coronation
Svatá Hora is considered one of the main Marian centers of Bohemia and all the Czech Republic, with strong spiritual irradiation over the region of Bohemia Central. The civil sources of religious tourism present it as one of the most important places of pilgrimage in the country, indicating a de facto patronage over the city of Plum and its environment, although no formal decree of diocesan or national patronage is mentioned. In the revised sources, there is no specific legal title as a patron of the diocese or of the nation.
On the canonical coronation of the image, the sources consulted (tourist, historical and religious dissemination) do not provide a clear data on a canonical coronation with date and pontifical delegate, unlike other European Marian asvocations where these data are usually expressly recorded. Therefore, according to the rules of historical rigour requested: does not contain a documented canonical coronation.
Party and devotion
The general sources (tourism, outreach and pilgrimage guides) describe Svatá Hora as a very celebrated sanctuary at the great feasts of the liturgical year, especially around the Holy Week y otros tiempos fuertes, indicando que “las iglesias que suelen acoger a más peregrinos en esos días son las de Svatá Hora […] y Velehrad”.Se menciona la “gran afluencia de peregrinos” y la importancia de las celebraciones litúrgicas, sin detallar cifras concretas de asistencia.
It does not clearly contain a single, official and documented date as a universally quoted "main feast" of Our Lady of the Holy Mountain in Svatá Hora in the sources consulted. It is reasonable to assume (compared to other Marian shrines in the region) that the sanctuary celebrates with special solemnity the main festivals of the Virgin (such as the Nativity of Mary, the Assumption or the Immaculate), but no consta a precise date that can be recorded here as a feast of the advocation.
In various tourist and religious reports, Svatá Hora presents itself as a place where many pilgrims come in search of intercession, spiritual comfort and renewal of faith, in continuity with a tradition that dates back to at least the 17th century.
Link to the Rosary
The sources consulted on Svatá Hora focus on the history of the sanctuary, Baroque architecture and the influx of pilgrims, but do not explicitly mention a particular or own devotion to the Rosary (for example, historical fellowship of the Rosary, specific processions of the Rosary or official titles linked to the Rosary). Therefore, there is no specific and documented relationship between this advocation and a unique practice of the Rosary.
However, as in most of the great Marian shrines of Central Europe, the prayer of the Rosary It is a regular part of the ordinary Marian piety of the pilgrims: it is a simple and meditative prayer that allows us to contemplate, with Mary, the life of Christ in his joyful, luminous, painful and glorious mysteries. In a place like Svatá Hora, marked by the contemplation of the Mother with the Child y por la memoria de siglos de peregrinación, el Rosario se presenta de modo natural como un camino para: – unirse a la the faith of generations que han subido a la Santa Montaña; – meditar los misterios de Cristo con la Mary's look, cuya imagen gótica preside el santuario; – confiar a la intercesión de la Virgen las personal, family and ecclesial intentions that the pilgrims carry.
Thus, even if there is no "own" rosarian tradition documented, the Rosary organically accompanies devotion to Our Lady of the Holy Mountain in Svatá Hora, inserting it into the great Marian current of the Church.

Pray Hail MaryDocumentary update: the Shrine of Svatá Hora
La historical information of the Shrine of Svatá Hora and its cartographic reference to OpenStreetMap confirm the location of the Marian whole in Příbram and its character as a place of pilgrimage. The institutional source presents the complex as a complex of basilica, cloister and life of welcome to the pilgrims, not as an approved independent apparition.
Therefore, the veneration of the image and the stories of favors must be read in their own categories: the historical existence of the sanctuary and its public veneration are one thing, while each extraordinary account requires its own source. This precision retains the difference between history, tradition and legend without reducing the spiritual importance of the Holy Mountain.
