Marian devotion
Origin and history
The episcopal fortress of Vana- Vastselina, whose construction began on March 25, 1342 - the feast of the Annunciation - was dedicated to the Virgin Mary and had a chapel on top of one of her towers. Pope Innocent VI included it in 1354 among the holy places, with 40 days of indulgence for the pilgrims. It was one of the most famous pilgrimage places in northern Europe until the 16th century, and today it is again.
Link to the Rosary
In this land where faith has known centuries, trials, and resurgences, the Rosary remains the simple thread that unites our hearts with Mary. To pray it here is to join the generations who, through this same devotion, entrusted their lives, their communities, and their hope to the Mother.
