Marian devotion
Origin and history
Our Lady of the Good Council is the patron of Albania, proclaimed by the bishops in 1895. According to tradition, on April 25, 1467, in the face of the Ottoman advance, the venerated icon of the Virgin of Scutari disappeared from Albania and reappeared in Genazzano (Italy), followed by two Albanian pilgrims. The national hero Skanderbeg invoked the Virgin of Scutari. His church, demolished during the atheist communist persecution, was rebuilt after the regime's fall.
Link to the Rosary
In this land where faith has known centuries, trials, and resurgences, the Rosary remains the simple thread that unites our hearts with Mary. To pray it here is to join the generations who, through this same devotion, entrusted their lives, their communities, and their hope to the Mother.
