Our Lady of Good Success

Quito (Ecuador)

In the heart of the colonial Quito, the conceptionists guard the image of the Good Success, together with the memory of the mother Mariana of Jesus Torres and a devotion of deep roots in Ecuador.

Place: Quito (Ecuador)
Sanctuary: Real Monastery of the Immaculate Conception (conceptionists)
Tradition: ligada a la madre Mariana de Jesús Torres (s. XVI-XVII)
Advocation: Our Lady of Good Success

Origin and history

The devotion focuses on a Marian image venerated in the Royal Monastery of the Immaculate Conception of Quito, one of the oldest closing communities in the city. The tradition links it to the mother Mariana of Jesus Torres, a religious conceptionist of the XVI-XVII centuries, around whose figure are transmitted accounts and prophecies of great roots in the Ecuadorian popular piety.

Over the centuries, the Good Story was consolidated as a beloved devotion in Quito, associated with the conceptual monastery and the prayer life of its religious. The Church always distinguishes Marian veneration - legitimate and ancient - from private accounts, which belong to the realm of tradition and do not force in faith.

"Our Lady of the Good Success, pray for us."
