Origin and history
The devotion of the Rosary was introduced in Granada by the Dominicans since the foundation of the convent of Santa Cruz la Real by the Catholic Kings in 1492. The image is the title of the very Old, Pontifical and Royal Archicofrady of the Most Holy Rosary, erected to extend the prayer of the Rosary. In the 18th century he was built a splendid baroque shrimp, considered one of the jewels of the Hispanic baroque.
Co-patron of the city of Granada and patron of the Realejo district, holds the honorary title of Captain General of the Navy for the protection attributed to the battle of Lepanto. More than forty granadine peoples have her as a patron. It was canonically crowned on May 14, 1961 in the Triumph Gardens.
