Popular tradition holds that numerous devotees have deposited jewels and precious objects before the image over the centuries, which are visible in the processions. The parish church is dedicated to Saint James the Apostle (17th century, 18th century renovations). The festivities include bullfights, bull runs, a bull with flaming horns, and open-air dances. Saint James the Apostle is the second patron saint, with his feast day on July 25th.
