En las verdes tierras de Cantabria se venera a la Bien Aparecida, tenida por patrona de la región. Su nombre mismo es ya un canto a la sorpresa gozosa del encuentro: la «bien aparecida», la que apareció felizmente, casi sin buscarla. Y el relato que el pueblo transmite tiene la sencillez luminosa de tantas troballas marianas: cuenta la tradición local que la pequeña imagen fue hallada por unos niños en la ventana de una ermita.
