Botsuana en el sur de África tiene una comunidad católica en crecimiento. La devoción mariana llegó con los Oblatos de María Inmaculada en 1880. La catedral de Cristo Rey en Gaborone de 1968 alberga una imagen de Fátima traída de Portugal en 1970.
El santuario de Nuestra Señora del Desierto en Tsabong en el Kalahari es uno de los santuarios más singulares. Construido en 2005 con arenisca del desierto alberga una Virgen con rasgos san tallada en morula. Atiende a pastores del Kalahari que recorren grandes distancias para visitarlo en la Asunción.
En Serowe la misión del Perpetuo Socorro mantiene oración mariana continua. El centro de salud Nuestra Señora de la Salud en Maun atiende al delta del Okavango. La imagen donada por exiliados durante el apartheid es símbolo de la resistencia pacífica y la fe del pueblo botsuano.
