On 25 April 1356, while a priest doubted the actual presence, the chalice sprout blood that soaked the body during the elevation.
Documented history and memory received
The diocese of Macerata placed the episode on April 25, 1356 in a Benedictine church. An old memory describes red signals that reached the chalice and canvas during the fraction of the shape. The body is preserved in the basilica of Mater Misericordiae and had a procession until the early 19th century, and its exhibition was resumed in the 20th century. Custody and veneration are made diocesan; the identification of the stain as miraculous blood belongs to the ecclesial tradition.
