Medal of the suffering face of Christ taken from the Holy Sheet, revealed to Blessed Mary Pierina De Micheli, as a shield of repair.
Documented history and memory received
Sacramental born of the apparitions of Jesus and of the Virgin to the religious Mary Pierina De Micheli (1890-1945) in Milan, between 1936 and 1940. Jesus showed him with a bloody face and asked that his face be honored with a feast and spread by a medal. On the anverse he reproduces the suffering face of Christ of the Holy Sheet of Turin with the Latin inscription "Illumina, Domine, vultum tuum super nos" ("Ilumina, Lord, Your Face on us," Ps 4); on the reverse, a Shining Hostia with the IHS monogram and the words "Mane nobicum, Domine" ("Stay with us, Lord," Lk 24,29). It links with the ancient reparative devotion to the Holy Rostro (Sister Mary of San Pedro, Tours; León Dupont). Maria Pierina was beatified in 2010. The feast of the Holy Rostro is held on Tuesday before Ash Wednesday.
Who venerates the memory
The look is directed to Jesus Christ and to the mystery of his Incarnation, Passion, Death, Resurrection or Reign. The image, relic, monument or custom does not act by its own power: it serves the memory of the Gospel and leads to prayer, sacraments, conversion and charity.
History, tradition and discernment
The beatification of Maria Pierina De Micheli is documented. Assigned apparitions and promises remain private revelation; the medal is sacramental, not amulet. The tab retains the memory received without turning legend, witness or believing interpretation into a historically demonstrated fact.
Celebration and devotional life
Festivity or main time: Carnival Tuesday (Feast of the Holy Face).
The promises attributed to private revelation are not reproduced. The medal is a sacramental: it provides for prayer and reparation, but it does not act as an amulet or guarantee a concrete death.
