When the chalice was turned during the Mass, the consecrated Blood indelibly stained the body; the relic was venerated in Boxtel and then in Hoogstrate.

Documented history and memory received

Between 1350 and 1380, the tradition of red-dyed cloth was born in Boxtel. A cardinals document of 1380 showed them annually. In 1652 they were taken to Hoogstraten; after an agreement confirmed by the Congregation of Rites, one returned to Boxtel in 1924 and the other remained in Belgium. The two processions and the history of custody are documented; the color change is presented according to tradition, not as a modern analysis.

Who venerates the memory

The look is directed to Jesus Christ and to the mystery of his Incarnation, Passion, Death, Resurrection or Reign. The image, relic, monument or custom does not act by its own power: it serves the memory of the Gospel and leads to prayer, sacraments, conversion and charity.

History, tradition and discernment

1380 document, custody and procession; stains according to tradition. The tab retains the memory received without turning legend, witness or believing interpretation into a historically demonstrated fact.

Celebration and devotional life

Festivity or main time: Commemoration of the Body Holy (Heilig Bbed).

No automatic promise or prodigy guarantee is documented. Veneration leads to Christ, the Eucharist, conversion, reparation, unity and charity.
