Rosary for the healing of family history

Rosary for the healing of family history

We trust God in the generations of our family.

meditated rosary

Each family is a long chain of faces: grandparents and great-grandparents, parents and brothers, those who still live and those who already rest. They are all part of our history, and they are all in God's hands. To pray this Rosary with Mary is to give thanks for those who preceded us in faith, to entrust our deceased to the mercy of the Father and to trust the next generations, with the serene hope of those who know that life does not end in death.

An important clarification. This Rosary prays for our ancestors and descendants with love and hope, as the Church has always done for the dead. It is not based on the idea of "ancestral sins" or the so-called "healing of the genealogical tree":: The Church (the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith and, among others, the Spanish bishops) has warned that this theory has no basis in Scripture or in the Catholic faith. Each one responds from his own actions before God (cf. Ez 18); no one inherits guilt to "break." We prayed for those who preceded us for love and gratitude, not for fear of supposed chains.

How to pray it

Pray the Holy Rosary as usual - sign of the Cross, Creed, and every mystery with his Father, ten Avemarias and Gloria. Before you start, do the initial prayer; in every ten, you welcome the proposed intention; at the end, the final prayer. If you want to pray it guided step by step, enter into Begin the Rosary.

Opening prayer

Father of goodness, I put before you my whole family: those who live and those who already rest in your peace. I thank you for those who gave me faith and life. In the hand of Mary, I entrust to you our history, with its lights and its shadows, that your mercy may reach all generations. Amen.

Mysteries and meditations

Glorious Mysteries - for this purpose:

1st mystery - The Resurrection of the Lord

Intent of this ten: in thanksgiving for those who preceded us in the faith.
2nd mystery - The Ascension of the Lord

Jesus goes up to the Father and awaits us in his house. We entrust to the deceased of our family, confident that their mercy will take them.

Intent of this ten: for the deceased of the family.
3rd mystery - The coming of the Holy Spirit

The Spirit reconciles and renews hearts. We ask forgiveness for the wounds between generations and the grace of reconciliation at home.

Intent of this ten: for forgiveness and reconciliation between generations.
4th mystery - The Assumption of Mary

The Mother is taken to heaven in body and soul. Under his cloak we entrust the younger and those who are still to come to our family.

Intent of this ten: for children, grandchildren and descendants.
5th mystery - The Coronation of Mary

Mary reigns with her Son and intercedes for all. We entrust the whole family to him, so that one day we all meet in the joy of God.

Intent of this ten: throughout the family, entrusted to the mercy of God.

Closing prayer

Lord, God of the living and of the dead, we trust you as we were and as we are. Take in your peace our dead, bless those we walk today and guide those who will come after us. One day, without any missing, we all meet at your house. By Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
