Rosary of the Seven Sorrows of Mary
We accompany the Mother in the pains of her Son's Passion.
Marian Rosary tradicional · ServitasIt is an ancient devotion, promoted since the 13th century by the Order of the Servants of Mary ("Servants"). Instead of the usual mysteries, the seven pains that the Virgin lived with her Son. It is not the common Rosary of five mysteries, but a painful crown of its own, simple and deep.
How to pray
Mary's seven pains
"A sword will pass over your soul" (Lk 2: 35). Mary welcomes from the beginning that her heart will be united to that of her Son in pain.
With the Child in his arms, Mary fled at night from the persecution of Herod. We contemplate the pilgrim and persecuted Mother who protects Jesus.
Three days of distressed search. Mary teaches us to seek Jesus when he seems absent, without losing trust.
Mother and Son cross their eyes in the street of bitterness. A pain that no word can express.
Standing by the Cross, he receives Jesus who dies and, in John, becomes the Mother of all of us (Jn 19: 25-27).
The body of his Son, down from the Cross, rests on his lap. It is the image of the Piety, tenderness and pain united.
Mary accompanies her Son to the tomb and remains in faith, waiting against all hope on the morning of the Resurrection.
