San Julián de Cuenca is the holy holder of the diocese and a central figure of the Christian memory conquests.
Where is he?
His grave and the main veneration are found in the Santa María and San Julián de Cuenca Cathedral. The location of the map points to the cathedral temple, not an alleged historical location of its life.
Documented history
The diocesan tradition places his death on 20 January 1208. The sources of the diocese documented a cult continued since 1471; in 1518 its remains were transferred to the cathedral and in 1595 Rome approved its trade. In 1944 37 bone fragments were authenticated and in 1947 they were deposited in a new ark.
Charity and devotion
The memory of Julian appears to be linked to the pastoral service, charity and life of the local Church. Conquest devotion invokes him as a pastor and protector of the diocese, along with the Marian prayer of the cathedral.
Tradition and causation
This fact sheet distinguishes the data transmitted by the diocese from the subsequent devotional formulations. The documentation consulted confirms the veneration, transfer and authentication of relics; no personal Marian apparition is added that sources do not describe.
Status of the sheet
The coordinate corresponds to the cathedral building verified in OpenStreetMap. The tab is incorporated as a point of devotion and memory of a local saint, with the sources indicated at the end.
Meditation anecdotes
The history of his relics recalls that devotion is also expressed in patiently guarding the memory received and checking it with responsibility.
Prayer
St. Julian of Cuenca, a faithful shepherd, pray for those who seek God in simplicity, for your diocese and for families who come to the cathedral. Teach us to unite prayer, truth and charity. Amen.
