Canosio retains the memory of a flood that threatened the Maira Valley in 1630 and which, according to tradition, ceased after the parish priest blessed the waters with the Most Holy Sacrament.
History and context
The narrative places the episode during persistent rains that made the Maira stream grow and put the town at risk. The community would have come to the priest, who went out with the Eucharist and blessed the valley. Tradition attributes to this gesture the cessation of the rain and the receding of the waters. The catalogue associated with Carlo Acutis adds that much of the parish file was lost, which limits the documentary verification of the story.

The Archdiocese of Bari-Bitup expressly mentions Canosio among the Italian localities where the Christian memory attributes protection to the Most Holy one from danger. This divulgative ecclesial reception does not amount to a specific decree, nor does it make the causal relationship a proven historical conclusion.
