On 8 August 1631 a fire threatened Dronero. The local tradition recalls a procession and a blessing with the Most Holy Sacrament, after which the fire was extinguished.
History and context
The episode is located in Borgo Maira and was associated with the church of Santa Brigida. A history of Turin and the Piedmont crisis of the 17th century shows that the fire was extinguished during a procession and Eucharistic blessing, and refers to a historical publication of 1894. A tombstone retains the local memory. This fact sheet separates the case of Canosio and San Mauro La Bruca, which the old digital index came to link in a confusing way.
What makes it possible to state the documentation
The historical source attests to the existence and transmission of the memory, but does not allow the reconstruction of every physical circumstance of the fire. It is published as a tradition of protection linked to the Eucharist, not as a transformation of species or as a modern expert.
