The Caetani chapel of Santa Pudenziana conserves a tradition dated 1610 on a stolen host that would have fallen on a step, where a print linked to the story is pointed out.
History and context
According to the tradition published by the exhibition associated with Carlo Acutis, a man who doubted the actual presence would have removed a host and hid it between his clothes. When he left, the form fell on the steps of the chapel and left a sign. The basilica and chapel are verifiable historical places; the architectural footprint must be described as an object of memory, not as an automatic material demonstration of narration.
What makes it possible to state the documentation
The institutional sources consulted demonstrate the identity, antiquity and location of Santa Pudenziana, but do not provide a specific decree on the episode of 1610. This is why the fact sheet clearly differentiates the building and the preserved print of the documentary degree of the story.
