🌹 Wonders and anecdotes
- The sanctuary was built in 1912 by the Papal missionary parents, inspired by the Grotto of Lourdes in France.
- The replica of the Grotto of Massabielle is built of volcanic rocks brought from Mount Banahaw, a pilgrimage place in the south of Luzon.
- Every February 11, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes brings together thousands of devotees, especially sick and pilgrims who seek the intercession of the Virgin.
- The sanctuary is known for its processions with candles every 11 of the month, following the tradition of the torches of Lourdes.
Our Lady of Lourdes of Manila
The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes in Manila was founded in 1912 by the Peasant missionaries. The grotto, replica of that of Massabielle, is built of volcanic rocks of Mount Banahaw. It is a place of pilgrimage much loved by the sick and devotees of the Virgin, who come to ask for their intercession and to drink from the holy water that flows in the sanctuary.
