Catholicism arrived in the region during the Portuguese presence on the subcontinent. Most Pakistani Catholics are descendants of converted Hindus from the caste chuhra in Punjab and of Goanese communities of origin established during British rule. Christians face social discrimination and persecution; the Blasphemy Act is a constant danger. In this context, the Virgin Mary is a pillar of spiritual identity and resistance.

- The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes (Lahore) - Built in 1907, it is the most important Marian sanctuary in Pakistan. Its white facade is an icon of the Christian community. Every year, on February 11, thousands of faithful go to the Mass of the Virgin of Lourdes, despite the security risks.

Catedral de San Patricio (Ntra. Sra. del Perpetuo Socorro)
