The image and the sanctuary
The image is venerated in the Basilica of Our Lady of Hope of Triana, attached to the Chapel of the Mariners and headquarters of the Brotherhood of Hope of Triana, in the Triana neighborhood of Seville.
Patronage and coronation
She is not the canonical patron saint of Triana in the strict sense (a title that, according to some civil texts, belongs to the Virgin of the Star as patron saint of the neighborhood), but she is popularly recognized as a figure of great devotion in the seaside district. The canonical coronation took place on June 2, 1984, presided over by Cardinal Bueno Monreal (some accounts mention Archbishop Amigo Vallejo); the coronation decree is papal. The event was widely covered by the press and by the brotherhood.
Celebration and devotion
The liturgical feast day is December 18th, the feast of Our Lady of Hope, with a novena and main service in December. The penitential procession takes place in the early hours of Good Friday, one of the most anticipated events of Holy Week in Seville.
