History

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart was built between 1871 and 1888 in the Victorian Gothic Revival style. It is the main chapel of the University of Notre Dame. Designated a minor basilica in 1991, it houses the largest organ in Indiana and numerous French stained-glass windows. It is the spiritual center of one of the world's leading Catholic universities.
