Blessed Mary of the Transit Cabanillas

Blessed Mary of the Transit of Jesus Sacramented Cabanillas was an Argentine religious and founder of the Franciscan Missionary Tertiary Sisters of Argentina. His life was linked to Córdoba, to catechesis, to the care of the poor and sick and to an educational and care work that continued after his death.

Where is he?

The map places this sheet in San Vicente, within the city of Córdoba (Argentina), a place related to the memory of the founder and one of the first works of her congregation. The mapping reference comes from OpenStreetMap, relation 5296561, and from a Nominatim consultation that responded HTTP 200. The precision is locality: does not contain a verifiable inner GPS of your grave in the coworked sources, so the point is not presented as such.

Documented history

María del Tráperia Eugenia de los Dolores Cabanillas was born on August 15, 1821 in Córdoba, Argentina, and died on August 25, 1885. The liturgical biography of the Holy See describes his family education, his dedication to catechesis and his service to the poor and sick. He also notes that he tried to join the Visitation in Montevideo, but had to leave for health reasons. The disease did not erase his desire for a foundation aimed at education and child care.

With ecclesiastical approval of his project and his constitutions, on 8 December 1878 he began in Córdoba the Congregation of the Franciscan Missionary Tertiary Sisters of Argentina together with Teresa Frontiers and Brigida Moyano. On February 2, 1879, they issued the religious profession. The congregation then joined the Franciscan family and opened schools and works in San Vicente, Rio Cuarto and Villa Nueva. These data belong to the documented history of its foundation; they are not expanded here with local episodes that do not reflect in the sources examined.

Marian Tradition and Devotion

The pontifical source underlines its Eucharistic piety, its trust in Providence and its work of mercy. The title "the Transit of Jesus Sacramented" is part of his religious identity and should not be confused with a Marian apparition. Mary is venerated as a mother and intercessor; worship corresponds only to God.

There is no personal Marian apparition linked to Mary of the Transit or an autonomous legend of the tomb that can be presented as history. His devotion is expressed in Christian life, catechesis and the service that official biography documents.

Ecclesial State

Es beata de la Iglesia católica. It was beatified on 14 April 2002. This recognition refers to his life and virtues according to the ecclesial process; it does not make into supernatural facts all devotional accounts that can circulate on it.

Anecdotes and stories

A key to their trajectory is that health difficulties did not nullify their educational vocation. After being unable to stay in two religious communities, he redirected his life to a foundation of his own, accompanied by collaborators and his first companions. The initial expansion of schools during their lives shows the concrete dimension of their charism: childhood, catechesis, poor, sick and training.

Prayer

Blessed Mary of the Cabanillas Transit, pray for those who educate children, care for the sick and serve the poor. He asks the Virgin Mary to teach us to follow Jesus Christ with patience, charity and trust. Amen.
