Blessed Maria Ràfols

La beata María Ràfols Bruna was co-founder of the Sisters of Charity of Santa Ana and one of the most remembered Christian service figures in Zaragoza. His life was linked to the Hospital of Our Lady of Grace, to the care of the sick and to the reception of abandoned children.

Where is he?

The map points to the area of General House of the Sisters of Charity of Santa Ana, on 13 Mother Ràfols Street in Zaragoza. Photon / OSM returns the direction of the street and the number; the coordinate used here is kept accurately verified_placebecause the consultation does not clearly identify the inner chapel or the exact point of the tomb.

Documented history

Maria Ràfols was born in 1781 and arrived in Zaragoza in 1804 with the group that gave birth to the Sisters of Charity of Santa Ana. His service was especially developed in the Hospital of Our Lady of Grace. During the Sites of Zaragoza he attended to the wounded and sick, sought food and help and held the work of mercy under extreme circumstances.

The congregation retains the memory of its dedication to inclusion and to people without resources. The documented history makes it possible to talk about assistance, organization and delivery; it does not allow all the devotional accounts that were later told to be presented as proven facts. His remains were transferred to the house of the congregation in 1925, where his memory remains linked to prayer and service.

Maria Ràfols was beatified in 1994. Its ecclesial state is that of beata de la Iglesia católica. Beatification recognizes the path of holiness and the public intercession that the Church allows, but does not automatically make the private prophecies or revelations that some sources attribute to it approved.

Charity and devotion to Mary

The name of the congregation, put under the patronage of Saint Anne, and the prayer life of its sisters are placed in a Marian tradition of service. The fact sheet does not attribute to Mary Ràfols an apparition of the Virgin or a separate approval of her prophetic writings. When his intercession is asked, he will venerate it as a disciple of Christ and it is recognized that worship belongs only to God.

The charity of Ràfols appears in concrete gestures: approach the sick, protect children, seek food and go through situations of danger so that others could be cared for. The greatness of these acts does not depend on turning them into miraculous accounts; the historical responsibility and memory of those who received their help is sufficient.

An address for memory

Mother Ràfols Street and the General House remember that holiness is also built in hospitals, kitchens, sick rooms and hidden tasks. The map uses an honest urban reference and not an inner precision that does not contain. If in the future an institutional source publishes the exact geometry of the chapel or the tomb, the metadata can be completed without rewriting this sheet.

The Sites of Zaragoza

The memory of Maria Ràfols is especially linked to the Sites of Zaragoza. The sources of the congregation describe their care for the sick and wounded and their efforts to get food and aid when the hospital was in an extreme situation. This context makes it possible to understand the dimension of its decisions: it was not only an internal task of the community, but also to sustain the lives of specific people in the midst of war and poverty.

Beatification does not make every spiritual account an independent approval. The research itself points out that some prophetic writings attributed to Ràfols raised controversy and that private revelations require a different assessment of their virtues and service. This fact is therefore based on biographical facts and verifiable congregational memory, and leaves what is not in place.

Prayer

Blessed Maria Rífols, pray for the sick, for the unprotected children and for those who serve in hospitals and homes. He asks the Virgin Mary to pay attention to pain and constant charity. Amen.
