Blessed Nha Girl was the popular name of Francisca de Paula de Jesus, Brazilian laica linked to Baependi, in Minas Gerais. The Church recalls her as a woman of prayer and a witness of Christ's mercy towards the people in need. His memory is closely related to a chapel and to local devotion to the Immaculate Conception, but the stories transmitted by popular piety must be distinguished from what is contained in the pontifical documentation.
Where is he?
The map places the tab in Baependi, Minas Gerais, Brazil. The coordinate comes from OpenStreetMap using Nominatim and the response was HTTP 200. The precision is locality: the point identifies the location of the sanctuary and the memory of Nha Chica, but does not claim to be the exact GPS of his tomb, of the chapel or of every place associated with his life.
Documented history
The apostolic documentation of the Holy See identifies it as Francisca de Paula de Jesus, called Nha Chica, secular and virgin. He was born in 1808 in São João del- Rei, in the state of Minas Gerais, and died in Baependi on June 14, 1895. The beatification formula presents it as a woman dedicated to prayer and as a perceptive witness of Christ's mercy to those who suffered from bodily and spiritual needs.
The beatification was held in Baependi on 4 May 2013. The Apostolic Letter granted him the title of Blessed and fixed his liturgical memory on June 14, under the conditions provided for by the right of the Church. This recognition is the ecclesial state that consists of the sources; it is not here transformed into an affirmation on all the details of the local memory or on every prayer request associated with its name.
The research used for this data sheet shows Nha Chica's link with a Marian chapel and with the attention of people who came to it. As this lot does not have a complete coetane documentation for each episode spread by tradition, caution is maintained. The tab offers the place of worship and history that can be held without presenting devotional anecdotes as historical acts.
Marian Tradition and Devotion
Nha Chica's memory is associated with the Immaculate Conception. The local tradition reminds her of her as a person who prayed and directed those who came to ask for advice, and as a promoter of a chapel dedicated to Mary. This fact sheet expressly states that this is a tradition when the source does not allow the establishment of an independent document. There is no approved personal Marian apparition related to it.
Mary is venerated and asked to intercede before God; she is not worshipped. Baepondi's devotion is understood within the Christian faith and the prayer of a secular woman, without turning the fame of favors into a list of recognized miracles. Nor is a canonical coronation of a specific image claimed because it is not recorded in the cross-cutting sources.
Ecclesial State
Nha Girl is beata de la Iglesia católica. He was beatified in Baependi on 4 May 2013. The Apostolic Letter recognizes his veneration in the places and forms established by law, and sets 14 June as a memory. It is not presented as a canonized saint.
Anecdotes and stories
The most constant anecdote of his memory is the transformation of a simple life of prayer into a meeting point for poor, sick or in need of advice. The pontifical documentation allows you to affirm your profile as a woman of prayer and mercy; it does not allow you to reconstruct here every conversation or attribute to it concrete oracles. That is why the fact sheet retains the wealth of tradition and at the same time points out its limits.
Prayer
Blessed Nha Chica, pray for those who live in poverty, for the sick and for those who seek comfort. Ask the Virgin Mary to take us to Jesus Christ, teach us to trust in God and make us merciful to those in need. Amen.
