Coronilla of the Holy Wounds of Jesus

The five wounds of the Lord · Franciscan Devotion

History. Devotion to the five wounds of Christ (hands, feet and side) is one of the oldest of the Christian tradition. San Francisco de Assisi received the stigmas in 1224. The Coronilla de las Santas Laguas was organized by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Laguas in the 19th century. The Eternal Father, before the offering of the Son's wounds, cannot deny any grace.

Introductory prayer

Eternal Father, I offer you the wounds of Our Lord Jesus Christ to heal the wounds of our souls.

First sore - The right foot sore

In honor of the wound of the right foot of Jesus Christ, nailed on the Cross for our sins of pride:
Eternal Father, on the merits of this sacred sore, grant me the humility of the heart.
Our Father + Hail Mary + Glory

Second sore - The left foot sore

In honor of the wound of the left foot of Jesus Christ, for our sins of impatience and anger:
Eternal Father, on the merits of this sacred sore, grant me the meekness.
Our Father + Hail Mary + Glory

Third sore - The sore of the right hand

In honor of the sore of the right hand of Jesus Christ, for our sins of greed and hardness with our neighbor:
Eternal Father, on the merits of this sacred sore, grant me generosity and mercy.
Our Father + Hail Mary + Glory

Fourth sore - The left hand sore

In honor of the wound of the left hand of Jesus Christ, for our sins of laziness and neglect in the service of God:
Eternal Father, for the merits of this sacred wound, give me fervor and diligence in your service.
Our Father + Hail Mary + Glory

Fifth sore - The side sore

In honor of the wound of the Sacred Costado of Jesus Christ, from which they sprout Blood and Water as a source of grace:
Eternal Father, on the merits of this sacred sore, grant me pure love to You and to your neighbor.
Our Father + Hail Mary + Glory

Conclusion

O good Jesus, that you loved the world so much that you gave your life to save it, accept the offering that I make of your own wounds, and for the pains that you suffered in them, have mercy on me and on all sinners. Amen.
