The Sacred Heart of Mandalay
The cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Mandalay, started in 1873, was consecrated on December 8, 1890, the feast of the Immaculate Conception. It is the seat of the Archdiocese of Mandalay, the heir to the apostolic vicariate erected in 1866.

- Its construction began in 1873, in the last years of the Burmese kingdom of Mandalay.
- It was consecrated on December 8, the day of the Immaculate: the Virgin accompanied the birth of the great temple in northern Myanmar.
- The Archdiocese of Mandalay was elevated to metropolitan headquarters on 1 January 1955.
- The Marian devotion of the region has a close milestone: the church of the Immaculate Conception of Pyin Oo Lwin, in the mountains about 40 kilometers away.
