The image and the sanctuary

The sanctuary is a gruta in the style of Lourdes, integrated into the parish. No consta an explicit recognition as a major diocesan sanctuary: its character is that of a place of devotion and pilgrimage of local reach, much loved by the Acadian community.

Sponsorship and coronation

No consta a patronazgo civil ni a canonical coronation documented. It is a local devotion of strong acadian arraigo.

Party and devotion

The party is the 11 February, memory of Our Lady of Lourdes. The devotion brings together the acadian families of the island around the grotto, especially in the Marian celebrations of the year.

Link to the Rosary

The Grotto of Lourdes carries with it the Rosary that the Virgin showed to Saint Bernadette. In Miscouche, pray the Rosary before the grotto is the own way to honor Our Lady of Lourdes and to keep alive the Marian faith of the acadian community of Prince Edward Island.
