Marian title of Utiel (Comunitat Valenciana)

Conocida cariñosamente como ‘La Serranica’ o ‘La Pequeñeta’ por su reducido tamaño (30 cm). La primera romería al santuario data de 1558, cuando se le pidió agua en una sequía. Según la tradición, la imagen fue traída desde Cullera en 1573 por el peregrino Juan de Argés, enterrado en el santuario. Declarada patrona canónica en 1612 por el papa Paulo V; León XIII ratificó el patronazgo en 1881. La romería del 6 de septiembre (Día del Recibimiento) fue declarada Fiesta de Interés Turístico Provincial en 2024.

The image and the sanctuary

Sanctuary of the Virgin of the Remedia of Utiel (region RequenaUtiel, Valencia). The image is only 30 cm and has been venerated since 1558.

Canonical Patron of Utiel since 1612 (Pope Paul V). Canonically crowned on 8 September 1960.
