On 26 December 2004 the Océano Índico tsunami - waves of up to 12 meters - destroyed the coasts of southern India. In Vailankanni (Tamil Nadu), by the sea, the basilica of Our Lady of Good Health, «el Lourdes del Este». Aquella mañana, unas 2,000 people heard Mass inside the temple.

The water went up on the sanctuary, went up the steps of the entrance... and if I retire sin invadir el interior. Around, the sea entered half a mile inland and destroyed all the buildings, before and behind the basilica; more than a thousand people who were outside lost their lives. But the temple was left intacto, and those who prayed inside barely heard what was happening. From a purely physical point of view, it is inexplicable.

The pilgrims lived it as a sign of the protection of the Mother. In those days, religious communities from all over the region - which were customary pray the Rosary every day— atribuyeron a esa fidelidad el haber sido preservadas. La Virgen, decían, «detuvo el mar en su puerta».

Where the Rosary is prayed, peace enters and fear stops. He who takes the accounts every day in his hands puts his house - and his whole life - under the Mother's cloak.
