Marian Routes and Itineraries

Spain is a Marian country. Every province has its patroness, every village its hermitage, every neighbourhood its brotherhood. This section proposes real routes for living the faith through the land: by car, by bike, on foot, by train. Alone, with family or in a group.

The routes are under development. Each one will include an interactive map, its own prayer for the way, a meditation for every stage, practical information and a downloadable PDF. They will be added gradually over the coming months.

Planned routes

The Way of the Rosary in Spain

A national pilgrimage linking the 20 mysteries of the Rosary with Marian shrines representative of each region: La Almudena (the Annunciation), El Pilar (the Presentation / the Coronation), Toledo (the Finding of Jesus in the Temple), Covadonga (the Proclamation of the Kingdom), the Macarena (the Scourging), Las Angustias of Granada (the Crucifixion), Guadalupe of Extremadura (the Assumption), El Rocío (Pentecost), Montserrat (the Ascension), among others.

A flexible itinerary: 20 days by car or 60 days on foot.

PDF guides to download

Each route, ready to print and take with you, with its stages and the prayer for the way. Pair them with the Marian Pilgrim’s Passport to collect a stamp at each shrine.

Prayer for the way

A prayer of its own to be said at the start of each stage, whatever the route:

Lord, who placed your Mother at the foot of the Cross
and gave her to us as our Mother,
grant that on this Marian way
we may follow her so as to come to You.

May every shrine we visit
be a station of grace,
every bead of the Rosary
a step towards heaven,
and every step an act of love.

Holy Mary, Mother of the Way,
pray for us, your pilgrims. Amen.

The Marian Pilgrim’s Passport

A PDF with 30 boxes for stamps: one for each shrine visited, with its name, place and date. Whoever completes it may request a Certificate of Marian Pilgrimage (symbolic, with no canonical value).

Pilgrimage without travelling

For anyone who cannot or does not wish to travel physically, a virtual pilgrimage from home is already available: the Way of the Rosary, one stage for each mystery accompanied by a great Marian shrine, to journey through one mystery a day. Without leaving the living room, yet walking with Mary.

And an offering by exchange: those who cannot go pray the Rosary for those who go; those who go pray for those who stay. A national chain of Marian prayer.

The Marian way is not religious tourism. It is walking with the Mother across the land of Spain, listening to what the stones and the villages have been saying about her for centuries.
