Marian devotions in Slovenia

🌹 Marian wonders and anecdotes from Slovenia
A painting done in prison and a Virgin Mary that shelters an entire town:
- Brezje (Marija Pomagaj) - the painter Leopold Layer painted the image in 1814; tradition says that the Virgin freed him from death when he was in prison. The Slovenian people devoted themselves to it on 15 August 1992 and renew it every year.
- Ptujska Gora - a Gothic relief of about 1410 shows the Virgin under her mantle to more than eighty figures.
- Sveta Gora - was born from an apparition of the Virgin to the pastoralist Uršula in 1539.
- Bled Island - the church of the island keeps the "bell of desires": who touches it with faith entrusts a supplication to the Virgin.
- Crngrob - one of the most beautiful medieval churches in the country, with a famous fresco from the 15th century.
