Marian Advocations of the Basque Country
The Basque Country venerates the Mother as "Andra Mari" in mountain and sea sanctuaries. Its great claims already have its own record: the Amatxu de Begoña (Biceia), Aromazu y Stibaliz. We collect here others from Gipuzkoa and Álava.
Bizkaia
Our Lady of the Ancient
Orduña's patron since 1639, "Andra Mari" of a gothic size venerated in his Baroque sanctuary at the foot of Mount Txarlón; tradition places the finding of the image in a Moorish.

Gipuzkoa
Santa María del Coro
Patrona de San Sebastián, in the oldest basilica of the city, at the foot of the Urgull; famous for the solemn Salve of August 14.
"The people sing to the Mother the Hail of each year.

Our Lady of Guadalupe (Hondarribia)
Patrona of Hondarribia, in a sanctuary of Mount Jaizkibel; his Alarde of 8 September commemorates the victory over the French siege of 1638.
"The Mother defends her villa in every siege.

Our Lady of Itziar
The ancient Roman sedent image of the Basque tides, on the North Road, crowned in 1952. Elcano bequeathed him some of his property.

Our Lady of Arrate
"Andra Mari de Arrate," patron of Eibar and of the txistularis; a roman-gothic image on Mount Arrate, crowned in 1929, between Zuloaga's canvases.
In the midst of the rocks of the mountain, the Mother watches over her people.

Santa María de la Antigua
First parish of Zumarraga, a Roman-Gothic temple of wood called "the cathedral of the Basque hermites"; on July 2, the ezpatadantza is dancing before the Virgin.
Ο In the most venerated hermitage, the Mother keeps the ancient faith of the people.

Our Lady of Zikuñaga
Hernani's patron, one of the seven black virgins of Gipuzkoa; his old Romanesque size was stolen in 1979 and devotion continues in the new temple of Orkolaga.

Álava
White Virgin (Andra Mari Zuria)
Patrona de Vitoria- Gasteiz, a Gothic image of the 14th century in San Miguel; its holidays of August 5, with the descent of the Celedón, are the heart of the summer of Vitorian.

"Virgin White, pray for us."
Our Lady of Angosto
Gothic Sanctuary by the river Humecillo, one of the main of Álava; patron of the Valdegovía valleys, invoked as a lawyer for the births.
The Mother watches over the life that is born and the fields.

Our Lady of Gold
Sanctuary on the limestone of the Golden Peñas, documented in 1138; patron of the Valley of Zuia, with a fellowship of about 2,000 cofrades and the curious ritual of the bell against the headache.
"On the rock, the Mother listens to the one who goes up to pray.

Our Lady of the Oak
Co-patron of Álava next to San Prudencio, crowned in 1954; his sanctuary next to the encore of Artziniega radiates devotion to Álava, Bizkaia, Burgos and Cantabria.
