Germany, the cradle of great mystics and pilgrimages, retains Marian sanctuaries with a deep medieval root that survived the Reformation and the wars. His heart is Altöttingthe Black Virgin of Bavaria and the main national sanctuary; next to her, the Kevelaer Affiliate Consolerthe largest pilgrimage place in the north-west; Dolorosa de Telgte en Westfalia; Wine garden y Birnau by Lake Constance; and the black virgins of the Rhine as Bornhofen.
